Get to Know Us

We believe in hiring strong performers in every area of expertise. In the book, First, Break All the Rules, the authors contend that while the notion of “there is no ‘I’ in team” is popular, it is not practical. Instead, excellent teams are built on individual excellence.

Howerton+White is led by Nicole Howerton, Ken White and Bryan Malone. We are also Melody Mynatt, Sheree Nikkel Gerig, Alan Kennedy, Josh Becker, Dianne Vallier, Jason Vandecreek, and Danielle Dickson.

Nicole Howerton — Principal/Co-Creative Director

It’s a relationship thing. It doesn’t matter if it’s the relationship between the agency and our clients, a personal relationship with a friend or the relationship between shape and color on the computer screen or printed page, Nicole is passionate about making it deeper, bolder, more creative, more fun, more intimate – more everything. That is the passion that drives the agency.

For more than 20 years, Nicole has teased and tweaked (and sometimes bent, folded and twisted) ideas into award-winning advertising campaigns, print ads, websites, high-end computer animations and just about anything else that needs to tell a story. Those stories build stronger relationships between our clients and their audiences. All of which makes Nicole (and our clients) very happy.

What else makes Nicole happy? Antique lighters, Viewmaster viewers, fishing, toy robots (anyone with memorabilia from the 1969 Japanese series Johnny Sokko and his Flying robot call immediately).

Ken White — Principal/Director of Interactive Media

If it’s got strings, he can play it. If it’s got bits, bytes and data, Ken can make it jump up and sing. If there is such a thing as a down home Renaissance man, Ken White is it.

From deep level, hardcore database coding to the hippest Java and Flash programming, Ken’s got it covered. Need an intuitive online shopping cart tied to a back end inventory management system and customer relationship software? It’ll be done before lunch. Online customer satisfaction surveys linked to strategic management goals? Done. Updated in real time? Yawn.

And if you’d like a side order of bluegrass, western swing, Django-style gypsy jazz or anything else that can be played on a stringed instrument, Ken’s got that covered too. Guitar, banjo, mandolin, whatever. He’s played everywhere from Winfield to the Grand Ole’ Opry. Luckily for us, Ken likes programming as much as he does being on stage (and we have a better dental plan).

Bryan Malone — Principal/Co-Creative Director

Underneath Bryan’s relaxed demeanor, broad smile and top-shelf t-shirt collection beats the heart of an ambitious ad man. But unlike the stereotypical “ad men” of the past, his focus is always directed to the greater good. Anyone who is fortunate to team up with Bryan understands they are receiving both an out-of-the-box thinker and a relentless advocate who will forge ahead, no matter the obstacles.

These qualities make Bryan the go-to guy for high-stakes marketing challenges. And his love of competition results in regular requests to join friends and colleagues on the area’s best golf courses or on the racquetball court at the local Y. Or you might spot him in the famed Wichita Riverfest dodge ball extravaganza, in the audience at every home WSU Shocker basketball game or coaching his son in Little League.

For Bryan, work and life are team sports. Whether at work, in the game or at home, Bryan’s love and loyalty to those he holds dear makes him the one you want on your team.

A Jolt of Java.
Stop by for a formal meeting or informal chat and we'll brew up some of our favorite coffee. That's Mud Coffee, straight from New York, which claims its the "anti-establishment" coffee brand. We just like how it tastes.
